Private James Miller

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

James Miller enlisted at Belfast on 22 November 1916. He was described as having a pale complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. He stated that he was 17 or 18 years old, was born in Ballymacarrett, Belfast, and worked as a labourer.

Between 23 June and 2 July 1917 he was posted to the North Irish Horse (regimental number 2545). He trained at the regiment's reserve base at Antrim, but was reported to have deserted on 27 August 1917. Whether he subsequently returned to duty is not known.
